From giving a few hours to making a life-long commitment, volunteers are at the heart of what we do at Hospice Calgary. Our volunteers give their time through:
- Providing clients and patients with care, comfort, and food
- Administrative and reception roles
- Involvement on special event committees
- Representing us at special events
- Service on our Board of Directors and committees
- Participation in our Ambassador Program

Please note, we currently do not have any individual volunteer opportunities available. We will update this page as opportunities arise.
We hope to be hosting our 2022 Hike for Hospice Calgary in person. Check back in early 2022 for more information about volunteering for this event.
Bring your co-workers or team to Hospice Calgary to work together, all while giving back to the clients and patients we serve.
Interagency Palliative Volunteer Training
In late November 2021, Hospice Calgary is hosting a series of palliative volunteer training. The three days will contain learning modules specific to the volunteer’s role in hospice palliative care. It has been developed to help hospice palliative care programs across the province ensure that volunteers receive the consistent training and information they need to provide high quality services. If you are interested in participating in this training, please contact your volunteer coordinator for more information.

Western Legacy Award Winner 2018
Congratulations to our 12 volunteers with the Living With Cancer Program who were selected as the winners of the Calgary Stampede 2018 Western Legacy Award in the category of Sustained Contribution for a Group!
The Living With Cancer Program is a weekly group that provides support to adults who are facing the challenges of living with advanced cancer. Caregivers (adult family and friends) are also invited to attend. Volunteers are at the heart of this program. They assist with all activities while also providing comfort and support to the participants. Every Wednesday, our volunteers share heartfelt connections (and laughter too) with our clients. Hospice Calgary “salutes” our volunteers — their service and compassion benefits us all.
