Fiona’s relationship with Hospice Calgary spans nearly three decades. Her time with the organization began in the mid-1990s as a volunteer and is now ending as the Executive Director. Throughout her journey, she leaves a legacy of vision, compassion, and dedication which will be felt for many years.

The Board would like to recognize Fiona’s achievements in advancing Hospice Calgary’s mission across our three centres of care – Rosedale Hospice, the Living with Advanced Illness Centre, and the Children’s Grief Centre. Under her leadership in the last six years as Executive Director, the organization has reached several significant milestones, including:
- Launching and rebranding of both the Children’s Grief Centre in 2019 and the Living with Advanced Illness Centre in 2021. Fiona was instrumental in championing the Companion Program, which is now one of the organization’s fastest-growing offerings.
- Navigating the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with resilience and creativity by transitioning services online, delivering remote care where possible, and successfully advocating for visitation in Hospices.
- Helping to secure the ongoing sustainability of the organization through major gifts, grants, and endowments.
While transition planning is already underway, Fiona continues to enthusiastically lead Hospice Calgary. The Board has begun the process of selecting her successor; confident that the organization is well-positioned for the future with strong community support, a clear mission, and a dedicated leadership team.
On behalf of the Board, staff, volunteers, and families who have been supported along their journey, I would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Fiona for her years of extraordinary service. Her leadership, institutional knowledge, and long-term commitment have helped shape Hospice Calgary into the organization it is today.
